Oh, where do I start?
Warhammer 40,000 (or 40K) has always held a special place in my heart. It began when I was young, thanks to my older brother’s obsession with Space Marines. He introduced me to the universe’s grimdark charm, but as a kid, I didn’t have the money for miniatures or games. Instead, I got hooked on StarCraft, my own entry into brutal sci-fi warfare.
Now, 25 years later, as a working adult with disposable income and time, I’ve finally returned to this universe I never really got to explore. And what better way to dive back in than Space Marine 2?
When the sequel was first announced, I felt both excitement and dread. The 40K franchise has a reputation: a massive amount of games, with quality ranging from legendary to lackluster. I was worried this would be another forgettable release.
Oh, how wrong I was.
Space Marine 2 unlocked something primal in me. Maybe it was the way everyone calls each other “BROTHER” with such gravitas. Maybe it was the bolter-chainsword combo tearing through waves of Tyranids. Or maybe it was the reveal of Chaos Marines that made my heretic-hunting heart swell with joy.
I could go on and on, but if I had to summarize Space Marine 2 in one word?
Magnificent.
Whether you're battling through the Campaign as Lieutenant Titus, coordinating with your squad in Operations/Siege Mode, or testing your skill in PVP, the game offers something for every kind of player.
And for the casual fan wondering if they’ll be lost in the lore — I say, jump in. Yes, you’ll be confused sometimes. But that confusion? That’s where the rabbit hole begins. Like me, you’ll find yourself Googling characters, watching YouTube lore videos, and gradually piecing together the vast, brutal mythos of the Imperium.
After clocking over 300 hours on Steam, I can confidently say: I now know a little more about the lore, and I’m hooked.
The process was simple:
Pick up the game.
Cave in some Tyranid skulls.
Bash Chaos Marines.
Get curious, research.
Repeat.
Eventually… walk into a Warhammer store, buy a combat patrol box, and start painting your first minis.
Space Marine 2 doesn’t just entertain, it initiates. It invites you to enter the world of Warhammer 40K, not as a scholar of the lore, but as someone who feels the weight of a boltgun in their hands, who understands why the Emperor must be praised, and who finally gets why grimdark is so intoxicating.
So, was it worth the wait?
For me, a casual fan turned convert — absolutely.
For the Emperor.
