The Quiet Confidence of Wearing the Same Type of Shirt Every Week

A love letter to plain tees, predictable pants, and accidental personal branding

Some people express themselves through fashion. I express myself through... black. And white. And sometimes, if I’m feeling bold, navy blue or olive green.

Ask my friends what I’m wearing on any given day and chances are, they’ll say:
“Something plain.”
“Probably oversized.”
“Black or white lah.”
“Got that Uniclooo energy.”

And they’re not wrong. I have somehow developed a reputation for being the monochrome minimalist, not on purpose, but simply because I don’t like stress. And nothing is more stressful than picking an outfit at 8:32 a.m. while half-awake, sweating, and wondering if it’s going to rain.

So I simplified my life.

A Wardrobe of Peace

My wardrobe is basically shirts that all look like they came out of a group project together. They are plain, solid-colored, and oversized enough to make me look intentionally lazy. No graphics, no quotes, no logos. Just... fabric.

The colors?
- Black
- White
- Slightly off-white (which I still call “white”)
- Navy blue
- Olive green, for when I want to say: “Yes, I touched grass today.”
The cuts? All the same, oversized. The vibe? Comfort monk.

And you know what? I love it.

Fashion-Free = Anxiety-Free

There’s a quiet kind of confidence that comes with having no decisions to make.
- No “Does this shirt go with these pants?”
- No “Do I look too loud?”
- No “Didn’t I wear this yesterday?”

Because the answer is: yes. I probably did wear this pants yesterday. And no one noticed. Or if they did, they didn’t care. In fact, I’ve reached a point where my predictability has become part of my brand.

Friends now say things like:
“This shirt is so you.”
“Very your aesthetic.”
“You and black tops are inseparable.”

Yes. Correct. Thank you. I built this image with my own two plain hands.

Pants? Please. Easy.

My pants game is just as uninspired, in the best way.
- Black shorts
- Black long pants
- Khaki pants if I’m feeling dangerous
- Cargo pants if I want to cosplay as “outdoor capable”

Match that with a black or white tee and boom, I’m a walking line drawing. Like someone who walked out of an IKEA instruction manual. No noise, no fuss, just clean lines and dad energy.

The Accidental Branding

Somewhere along the way, this became a look. Not a “fashion-forward” look, but a “he’s got his life together” kind of look. People think it’s intentional. They say things like:
“Wow, you’ve got such a minimalist vibe.”
“You dress like one of those productivity YouTubers.”
“You look like you meditate with your wardrobe.”

Nope. I just don’t like folding laundry.

The Perks of Simplicity

Here’s what you don’t get told about wearing the same clothes every week:
- You always know what to pack (can't stress this enough)
- You’re never “underdressed” — just understated
- You save mental bandwidth for more important things (like whether to eat chicken rice or wanton mee)
- You gain a strange form of main character energy by doing less

Final Thoughts: My Clothes, My Calm

I’m not saying everyone should wear the same things every week.
But I am saying that behind every plain tee and identical outfit is a person who made a quiet decision: “I don’t want to fight with my wardrobe today.” And that, my friend, is fashion enlightenment.

If you're ever curious what I'm wearing tomorrow...
Just look at what I wore yesterday. Peace peace.
